Job description

Travel: Approximately 35%
Reports to: President, North America
Leadership Scope: Sales & Operations
Industry: Industrial Safety / Engineered Solutions

The Opportunity

What if your next role wasn’t about stepping into someone else’s playbook, but helping build the next chapter of a business?

Our executive search team has been retained to identify a General Manager, Sales & Operations for a well-established organization in the industrial safety and engineered solutions sector.

This is a rare opportunity to work directly alongside the North American President and take ownership of a business unit positioned for significant expansion.

The initial focus is the West Coast, but the vision is much bigger.

With plans to expand nationally and double the business over the next three years, the organization is looking for a commercially driven leader who can build the team, develop the market, strengthen operations, and ultimately take ownership of the business unit’s growth and P&L.

This is not a traditional “maintain what already exists” General Manager role.

It is a build, lead and scale opportunity.

You will inherit an established foundation, an existing team, the resources of a larger international organization, and the opportunity to help shape what comes next.

Your Mandate

Working closely with the President of North America, you will lead the commercial and operational growth of the business unit.

You will be responsible for turning a significant market opportunity into a scalable, high-performing business by:

  • Owning and delivering the business unit’s revenue, profitability and P&L objectives
  • Leading an existing team of approximately 7–9 sales and operations professionals
  • Building the future sales and operational team around the needs and opportunities of the business
  • Developing and executing the growth strategy for the West Coast market
  • Creating the foundation for broader national expansion
  • Personally identifying, developing and closing strategic sales opportunities
  • Growing relationships with end users, construction companies, engineers, project developers and industry partners
  • Building a disciplined commercial engine around pipeline, forecasting, accountability and execution
  • Strengthening operational performance as the business scales
  • Developing, coaching and holding a growing team accountable to clear performance expectations
  • Partnering with senior leadership and finance to improve margins, control costs and drive profitable growth
  • Providing market intelligence that helps shape future positioning, marketing and expansion strategy
  • Reinforcing a strong safety culture across every level of the business

What Success Looks Like

This role is ultimately about building enterprise value through profitable growth.

Success will mean creating a business unit that can scale beyond its current footprint while maintaining the operational discipline, customer experience and financial performance required to support national expansion.

You will bring greater structure and predictability to the business while maintaining the entrepreneurial speed needed to capture new opportunities.

Over time, the goal is clear:

Build a stronger team. Expand the market. Grow profitable revenue. Create a scalable platform for national growth.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for a leader who combines commercial drive with operational ownership.

You may currently be a General Manager, Regional Leader, Sales Director, Business Unit Leader or senior commercial leader ready to take on broader P&L and operational responsibility.

The strongest candidates will bring:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in technical, industrial, construction or engineered solutions sales
  • Previous experience leading and developing a sales team, ideally with 2+ years of formal people leadership
  • A demonstrated track record of growing revenue and market share
  • Experience identifying, negotiating and closing significant commercial opportunities
  • Strong commercial instincts and the ability to personally contribute to business development when required
  • The ability to understand technical solutions and translate complex product or service capabilities into clear customer value
  • Experience building teams, processes or markets in a growth environment
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including forecasting, profitability and P&L management
  • The ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving or rapidly scaling business

Experience in industrial safety, fall protection, specialty contracting or engineered solutions would be highly valuable, but we are equally interested in leaders from adjacent technical industries who understand complex B2B sales and project-driven environments.

The Leadership Profile

This opportunity will suit someone who sees a business and immediately starts thinking:

Where can we take this?

You are likely:

  • Entrepreneurial and commercially driven
  • Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership
  • Strategic enough to build a three-year vision and hands-on enough to execute today
  • A builder of teams, systems and customer relationships
  • Competitive, resilient and motivated by measurable growth
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy while working closely with senior leadership
  • Able to move between the boardroom, the sales pipeline and day-to-day operations
  • Energized by the opportunity to create something bigger than what exists today

You do not need every answer on day one.

You do need the curiosity, commercial judgment and leadership ability to figure out where the biggest opportunities are and build the team and strategy required to capture them.

Why This Opportunity?

Most senior leadership roles ask you to manage an established machine.

This one gives you the opportunity to help build it.

You will work directly with the North American President, lead a business unit with an established foundation, and have meaningful influence over how the organization grows across the West Coast and, ultimately, nationally.

For the right leader, this is the opportunity to put your fingerprints on a business during a pivotal stage of its growth.

The foundation is established. The market opportunity is significant. The next phase needs its leader.

We thank all that apply and our Recruitment Consultants will be sure to reach out to those that are most suitable for the role.
