Job description

#jobalert | DIRECT HIRE | SAFETY MANAGER | MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR |[Kansas City]

We are seeking an experienced construction Safety Manager for a design-build mechanical contractor in the Kansas City metro. This role leads all safety programs, compliance, training, and job site evaluation across a portfolio of commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. You'll work closely with project teams and field crews to build and sustain a proactive safety culture — not just check boxes. This is a high-visibility role in a growing company with direct access to leadership and real authority to make an impact.

  • Anticipate $100,000 – $110,000 (+/-)
  • Benefits: Health insurance premiums paid in full for employee, spouse, and dependents (medical, dental, vision)
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of salary + bonus contributions
  • Location: Lenexa, KS (In-Office + Job Site Visits as required) — Full-Time (No Remote)

Overview:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct regular job site safety evaluations and audits across all active construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, industry safety standards, and client-specific requirements
  • Lead all PPE programs and enforce safety protocols consistently across field crews
  • Design and deliver safety training and education initiatives for all employees and crews
  • Partner proactively with project managers and field leadership to identify and mitigate risks before incidents occur
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns; recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain required safety documentation, records, and reporting

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • OSHA 30 certification required; CHST or CSP strongly preferred
  • Degree in occupational safety, construction management, or a related field preferred (not required)
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience — mechanical, industrial, or commercial construction preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and job site safety best practices
  • Experience in commercial or industrial construction environments
  • Hands-on and field-oriented — comfortable on job sites, not just in the office
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence field crews and senior leadership alike
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to hold crews and leadership accountable
