Job description

Brayman Construction is hiring a full-time Safety Manager to oversee Safety operations across multiple sites supporting the newly awarded ALCOSAN Ohio River Tunnel Project. This large scale, long-term project is designed to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO), requiring strong field leadership and rigorous safety oversight across all locations.

Summary of Safety Manager Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure compliance with site drug testing program
  • Develop and conduct training as needed at the project, including, but not limited to, fall protection, confined space, personal protective equipment, first aid/CPR, signal person, and Hazard Communication
  • Write review and modify site-specific safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure jobsite compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
  • Lead incident investigation efforts & document findings, and assist in developing lessons learned to help prevent recurrence.
  • Job site safety inspections (inspection of power tools, cords, hazards, etc.)
  • PPE inspections, order, replace, and administer training
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary of Safety Manager Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Seeking a detail-oriented, excellent communicator with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and take initiative
  • Candidate must be willing to accept travel to the job sites
  • The Site Safety Representative must have a comfortable working/teaching knowledge of the following: Hazard Communication, Use of P.P.E., First-Aid/CPR & AED, Trench Shoring, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Blood Borne Pathogens, OSHA Regulations, Forklift, Silica, and Mobile Cranes.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), PowerPoint, and other related computer software
  • Must be willing to travel to job sites.

Safety Manager Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or equivalent engineering degree with at least seven (7) years of relevant construction safety and health experience.
  • At least four (4) years of relevant (tunnel and shaft) construction safety and health experience is required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required and (but not limited to): Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Associate Safety Professional (ASP).
  • OSHA 500 Trainer and First Aid CPR Instructor preferred.

Safety Sensitive Position

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around chemicals, which require a government permit, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
