Position Description
Are you detail-driven and passionate about protecting the integrity of clinical documentation?
We're seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and completeness of our Electronic Medical Records (EMR). In this role, you'll play a critical part in safeguarding patient information, supporting clinical quality, and ensuring regulatory and accreditation standards are met across the organization.
What You'll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive monthly quantitative reviews and audits of active and discharged electronic medical records.
  • Identify documentation gaps, technical errors, and potential legal or clinical risks and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
  • Ensure timely, accurate responses to authorized medical record requests in compliance with HIPAA and facility policy.
  • Maintain precise tracking and documentation of all medical record disclosures.
  • Support internal staff, auditors, and external reviewers by facilitating access to records and explaining record organization.
  • Participate in EMR revisions, updates, and optimization initiatives.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to multidisciplinary team members regarding documentation deficiencies.
  • Partner with clinical, administrative, and compliance teams to promote continuous documentation improvement.
What We're Looking For
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field (preferred)
Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in health information management (required)
  • At least one (1) year of experience in medical record auditing (required)
Licenses/Certifications
  • RHIT or RHIA certification (preferred)
