Job Responsibilities:

Magna is looking for Smart Factory Manager who will lead a team responsible for developing software to support digitizing production lines and implementing streaming machine controls.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement modern smart factory solutions that connect legacy manufacturing equipment to scalable digital infrastructure.

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Industrial IoT (IIoT) applications operating both on-premises and in cloud environments.

  • Build and manage cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies, including Terraform.

  • Develop and support AWS-based solutions for leveraging services such as AWS IoT, AWS Lambda, AWS Bedrock, and AgentCore for AI-driven manufacturing and operational use cases.

  • Design and implement AI-enabled workflows, intelligent agents, and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.

  • Manage software deployments, system updates, patches, and release processes across production and development environments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm, architect, and implement innovative Industry 4.0 solutions.

  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, metrics, and monitoring tools to track smart factory and production performance.

  • Provide detailed technical specifications for proposed solutions, including required hardware, software, cloud services, external vendors, and internal resources.

  • Work with source control and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.

  • Actively troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during development, testing, deployment, and production operations.

  • Participate in Agile software development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stand-ups using tools such as Jira.

  • Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and project artifacts using Confluence and related documentation platforms.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Act with honesty and integrity and make ethical business choices in accordance with Magna's Compliance Policies and Procedures.

Who we are looking for

  • Strong experience designing and implementing smart factory, Industrial IoT (IIoT), and cloud-connected manufacturing solutions.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.

  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including cloud architecture, deployment, and operational management.

  • Experience developing AI and generative AI solutions using AWS Bedrock and AgentCore.

  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Go (Golang), TypeScript, Python, JavaScript, C#, Java, and/or C++.

  • Experience developing scalable APIs, backend services, and distributed applications.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, containerization, and microservices principles.

  • Experience with databases and multiple forms of data storage technologies (SQL, NoSQL, time-series, and cloud-native storage platforms).

  • Good understanding of IoT architectures, cybersecurity principles, and communication protocols such as MQTT.

  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, and automated deployment strategies.

  • Knowledge of Agile and traditional project management methodologies including Agile/Scrum and Waterfall.

  • Experience using Agile collaboration and tracking tools such as Jira.

  • Experience maintaining technical and operational documentation using Confluence or similar platforms.

  • Understanding statistical analysis and manufacturing performance metrics.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Experience with capability studies such as CPK, Gage R, and Gage R&R is considered an asset.
