Job description

Manager, Project Management | Retail Bank Market Strategy

Capital One-a Fortune 500 company and one of the nation's top 10 banks-offers a broad spectrum of financial products and services to consumers, small businesses, and commercial clients. Our mission within the Retail Bank is to lead the industry by seamlessly blending leading digital capabilities with high-impact in-person experiences. Guided by our strategic vision, rigorous analytical grounding, and strong shared values, we cultivate a collaborative workplace where people with diverse ideas and backgrounds come together to build not only a great business, but an exceptional place to work.

The Role:

As a Project Manager on the Bank Market Strategy team, you will manage the end-to-end processes that drive our Branch, Cafe, and ATM location decisions. Physical location strategy demands a careful balancing act between rigorous analysis and qualitative judgment. In this role, your objective is to drive successful business outcomes while effectively balancing competing opportunities, capital costs, customer experience, and risk constraints.

Location distribution decisions carry high visibility and require regimented risk management. You will own and manage key controls across Market Strategy to maintain compliance, ensure business continuity, and support high-impact customer experiences. Beyond managing controls, you will be empowered to optimize workflows, enable cross-team decision-making, and drive continuous process improvements.

This role offers broad visibility across Market Strategy, finance, design, construction, real estate, external affairs, and risk. It is an ideal fit for a Project Manager seeking both strategy exposure and hands-on process ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Real Estate Steering Committee: Own the governance forum where senior leaders approve all high dollar strategic investments in physical presence. Shepherd intent from ideation to pricing and execution handoff.

  • Branch and Cafe Renovation Strategy: Support the execution of the multi-year Branch and Cafe renovation program. Align long-term physical vision across design, construction, and real estate partners.

  • Capital Planning: Develop and manage the comprehensive financial and operational investment plan for Retail Bank physical infrastructure (operating expenses, renovations, additions, and dispositions). Facilitate routine budget re-prioritization, variance tracking, and stakeholder alignment as project scope or pricing changes.

  • Cross-Functional Process Improvement: Own key decision making controls, risk frameworks, and business continuity plans. Partner with strategy, delivery, risk, and compliance teams to develop proposals to improve existing processes or establish new ones that may be required as the Bank continues to grow and evolve.

  • AI & Workflow Enablement: Partner with data and analytics teams to integrate modern productivity and AI-driven automation tools into existing program workflows, optimizing cycle times and reporting efficiency while maintaining risk controls.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 4 Years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

  • 5+ Years of Project Management experience

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • Demonstrated experience in capital budget management, risk, or program governance
