Job description

Job Title: Project Controls Associate
Location: Knoxville, TN (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
This role is a Project Controls / Planning & Scheduling position focused on managing the financial and scheduling health of projects, in a federal contracting environment. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain critical path schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, track project progress and resource productivity, and conduct financial analysis including forecasting and variance reporting. The role sits at the intersection of finance, and project management - requiring someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within the compliance requirements of government contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated critical path schedules in accordance with project specifications
  • Document planning objectives, scope, and milestones for inclusion in scheduling processes
  • Collect and update project progress data from project teams and stakeholders
  • Monitor project metrics including schedule dates, physical percent complete, resource needs, subcontractor deliverables, and accruals
  • Track schedule progress and resource productivity
  • Generate time-phased project cost and resource forecasts and validate project cost data
  • Monitor actual expenditures against forecasts and project deliverables
  • Conduct financial variance, risk, and profit/loss analysis
  • Create non-routine financial reports and perform complex analyses
  • Assess and document the cost and schedule impact of project changes
  • Raise early warning signals for project risks and delays
  • Recommend resource adjustments to maintain project timelines
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and federal/government contract requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • The ability to ability to pass a federal background check and drug screening
  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Finance, Construction Management, or related field preferred)
  • Experience with Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong numerical aptitude
  • Experience with project scheduling principles and practices
  • Organized, detail oriented and proactive
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with project controls tools and methodologies in a federal contracting environment

Work Authorization:
U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal contract and/or security clearance requirements.
Working Conditions:
This position is primarily performed in an office environment . Employees will be required to use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and operate a computer and standard office equipment.
