Job description

This position reports to:
Production Engineering Manager
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your skills by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
The role follows an onsite work model in Selmer, Tennessee. For the duration of the fall internship, the selected candidate should be available to work full-time and actively participate in day-to-day operations at the facility.
You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Support the startup and commissioning of a new manufacturing facility as part of the company's planned relocation to a new factory in Q1 2027.
  • Assist with the installation, setup, and validation of new production machinery and electrical equipment.
  • Review and interpret electrical documentation, including one-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment layouts.
  • Collect and analyze operational and equipment data to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
  • Develop and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other technical documentation to support production readiness.

Qualifications for the role:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline at an accredited university in the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exhibit the capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
