Manager, Energy Programย Management

The Sport & Games Delivery Group aims to deliver the most seamless, innovative, and engaging Games experience ever for all athletes, fans, partners, and the community.ย ย The Sport & Games Delivery team is currently organized in four key areas including Venue Infrastructure, Venue Management, and Sport, but will expand to over 30 functional areas by Games time.ย ย ย ย ย 

The Venue Infrastructure Teamย is responsible forย delivering the competition and non-competition venues fit-for-purpose for the preparation and staging of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This departmentย is responsible forย managing the design, development, program management, construction, maintenance, and removal of all Games infrastructure in existing and fully temporary venues.ย ย ย 

Energy is a functional area that lives within the Venue Infrastructure Team.ย ย The Energy Team is responsible for ensuring the end-to-end delivery of power to all Games venues and facilities. The Energy Team coordinates with other LA28 functional areas, external utility providers, government organizations, venue owners and temporary power providers to ensure successful delivery of electrical services and operations to power all Games operational sites.ย 

Reporting toย a Sr. Manager in theย Energy Programย Management Office, theย Manager, Energyย Programย Management will beย primarilyย responsible forย driving electrical design and delivery atย severalย venuesย simultaneously.ย 

Responsibilities include supporting the Energyย functional areaย during theย strategy andย planningย phasesย byย facilitating theย design process forย electricalย overlaysย at Games venues,ย managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, creating and tracking design and delivery schedules at Games venues,ย facilitating stakeholder meetings,ย tracking and managing the Energy budget, and managing Energy procurement and resource planning.ย ย 

They will work closely with other functional leads (internal and external) to implement strategic business milestones, work plans, and transition to delivery andย execution ofย work structure.ย 

This role will manage operational readiness including delivery of key operational dependencies from other areas for support services, such asย Venue Infrastructure,ย Technology,ย Broadcast, among others.ย ย 

Generic skills needed to work in the Energy project office include capabilities in project management, with experience in using project management tools.ย 

Key Responsibilities:

Constructionย Project Managementย 

  • Manageย NRG deliveryย at aย Gamesย venuesย throughย design, installation, and operations.ย 
  • Plan, schedule, and lead cross-functional meetings with internal and external engineering, design, and powerย deliveryย teams.ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Oversee projectย schedule, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Coordinate withย internal and external stakeholders,ย contractors,ย and vendorsย to align project scope, milestones, and deliverables.ย ย ย ย 
  • Monitorย venue development,ย identifyย risks, and implement mitigation strategies to resolve issues.ย ย 
  • Manage change orders, documentation, and reporting to keep leadership and stakeholders informed.ย ย ย ย 
  • Track and regularly update deliverable progress, actionย itemsย logs, andย issuesย logs for each project.ย 
  • Create and updates dashboards and tools forย disseminatingย informationย ย 
  • Follow up with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ's) for design review progress in construction and design permittingย 

Planning and Reportingย ย 

  • Ensure oversight and management of the Energy program and all program management partners, including owning all internal reporting of keyย objectivesย and success metrics.ย 
  • Support the assessment of cost and delivery impacts as the design development process evolves, helping toย identifyย and evaluate both opportunities and risks in delivery.ย ย ย 
  • Track progress ofย Utility Service Providerย capital improvement projects that willย impactย power generation capabilities for legacy power systemsย at Games venues.ย ย 

Cross-Functional Collaborationย ย 

  • Develop and execute an approval and review process for all internal and external stakeholders involved inย establishingย Energy technical requirements for Games overlay.ย ย 
  • Establish close working relationships with key functional areas (especially Venue Infrastructure, Technology, Broadcast, etc.) to ensure the infrastructure planning,ย schedulingย and reporting process incorporates cross-functional timelines andย objectives.ย 
  • Closely align with the Venue Developmentย sub-function to ensure coordinated planning for all venue design and delivery milestones and deliverables andย advocateย where risks to timeline and delivery require attention.ย 
  • Planning and reporting will be the coordinated output of cross-functional stakeholderย needs,ย and this person will need toย demonstrateย expertiseย with complex planning across many internal and external stakeholder groups.ย 
Background & Requirements:
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in construction or energy project management, or related.ย 
  • Experience in managing complex electrical projects in planning, design, and implementation phases.ย 
  • Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaborative decision-making.ย 
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success in building excellent working relationships.ย 
  • Strong experience with Smartsheet, and Power BI / Tableau or other project management tools.ย 
  • Experience working with senior management across multiple functional areas.ย 
  • A collaborative mindset: someone who prioritizes the team and fosters a culture of high performance without ego.ย 
  • An innovative viewpoint, challenging the status quo and thinking ahead to future years of the Movement. ย

Education:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Thisย full-timeย position isย locatedย in the LA28 office in Los Angeles, California.ย 
  • Travel, as needed, to external stakeholder offices,ย governmentย agencies, and Games venues and facilities.ย 
  • The majority ofย work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.ย 
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.ย 

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
