Manager Partner information

What is a manager partner?

Manager Partners are professionals who hold both managerial and partnership roles within a company or organization. They are typically responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing teams, and contributing to high-level decision-making. In many cases, Manager Partners also have an ownership stake in the business and are involved in setting strategic goals, driving growth, and ensuring profitability. Their dual role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and the ability to balance operational responsibilities with long-term planning.

How does a manager partner typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives?

A Manager Partner often acts as a strategic bridge between their organization and external partners, frequently collaborating with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, product development, and customer success. This role involves facilitating communication, aligning partner strategies with business goals, and ensuring smooth execution of joint initiatives. Regular meetings, joint planning sessions, and shared performance metrics are common practices to foster collaboration and drive mutual success. Effective Manager Partners are skilled in stakeholder management, negotiation, and cross-departmental coordination.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a manager partner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Manager Partner, you need strong leadership, strategic planning, and business management skills, often supported by a degree in business administration or related field and significant management experience. Familiarity with CRM systems, financial analysis tools, and project management software is typically required. Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities help build successful partnerships and lead teams effectively. These skills ensure effective collaboration, drive business growth, and maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Job description

Build your own recurring book of managed IT customers without having to build the technical operation behind it.

Pinnacle is looking for ambitious, entrepreneurial people who want more upside and ownership than a traditional sales role.

You find customers, sell managed IT services, and manage the relationship. Pinnacle handles the technical delivery, including onboarding, onshore help desk support, cybersecurity, monitoring, device management, and ongoing IT operations.

This is a performance-based opportunity with no guaranteed base salary.

The Opportunity

Our managed IT services typically sell for around $200 per employee per month.

For each customer you originate:

  • 30% to 40% of recurring revenue during the first 12 months

  • 10% of recurring revenue thereafter, for as long as you remain the active account owner

For example, a 20-person customer paying $200 per employee generates $4,000 per month. At a 40% first-year revenue share, you would earn $1,600 per month, or $19,200 for the year.

As you add and retain customers, your recurring income builds over time.

Build a Portfolio

This is not a traditional sales role where you close a deal, collect a one-time commission, and start over.

Each customer you bring on becomes part of the book of business you manage. You continue earning recurring revenue as long as the customer remains active and you remain their account owner, subject to the partner agreement.

Partners may also have the opportunity to sell or transfer their portfolio to Pinnacle or another approved partner if they eventually decide to step away.

What You Will Do
  • Find and develop relationships with small and midsize businesses

  • Sell managed IT and cybersecurity services

  • Own and grow long-term customer relationships

  • Manage renewals, retention, and account growth

  • Build your own pipeline and customer portfolio

What Pinnacle Handles

Pinnacle provides the technical infrastructure and service-delivery team behind you, including:

  • Customer onboarding

  • Onshore help desk and technical support

  • Device management

  • Cybersecurity and monitoring

  • Ongoing IT service delivery

You focus primarily on selling, managing customer relationships, retention, and growth.

You May Be a Strong Fit If You
  • Have experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management

  • Have relationships with SMB owners or decision-makers

  • Are entrepreneurial and comfortable generating your own pipeline

  • Want to build recurring income over time

  • Prefer autonomy and upside over a traditional corporate sales role

Previous IT experience is helpful but not required. Relevant backgrounds may include managed services, telecom, SaaS, payroll, insurance, banking, accounting services, managed print, or consulting.

Compensation

There is no guaranteed base salary.

Partners earn 30% to 40% of recurring revenue during a customer's first 12 months, followed by 10% for as long as they remain the active account owner.

Compensation is uncapped and depends on the customer portfolio you build, retain, and manage.

If you are successful at selling to businesses and have thought about building something of your own, Pinnacle gives you a way to build a recurring customer portfolio without creating an IT operation from scratch.
