This position is based in Lake Orion, Michigan, supporting General Motors transportation operations. We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the daily execution of transportation activities while ensuring customer requirements, driver performance, safety standards, and operational objectives are consistently achieved.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Lead the daily transportation operation supporting General Motors
  • Manage dispatchers, supervisors, drivers, and administrative personnel
  • Ensure all customer service, delivery, and operational performance expectations are consistently achieved
  • Coordinate daily route planning, fleet utilization, and driver scheduling activities
  • Monitor freight movement, service performance, and operational execution
  • Support driver recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management efforts
  • Partner with customer representatives to resolve issues and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, safety standards, and customer requirements
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service, safety, productivity, retention, and cost control
  • Investigate accidents, service failures, customer concerns, and operational disruptions
  • Manage labor planning, staffing levels, attendance, and workforce development initiatives
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and operational expense management
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and service levels
  • Maintain a strong operational presence and provide leadership across all shifts as needed
What We're Looking For:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, supply chain, or related operations
  • Previous experience managing drivers, dispatch teams, supervisors, and frontline employees
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, dispatching, fleet management, and customer service expectations
  • Experience supporting automotive or dedicated transportation operations preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee development skills
  • Proven ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing operational metrics and driving performance improvements
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license required
