Ryerson is seeking a Director of Strategic Accounts to lead and grow a portfolio of long-term OEM and industrial customer relationships within our metals business. This is a senior, high-impact role responsible for driving profitable revenue growth, maintaining strong margin performance, and ensuring disciplined management of inventory and receivables across large, complex contract accounts. In this role, you will own the negotiation and execution of multi-year supply agreements, including vendor-managed inventory, forecast-based commitments, and index-based pricing structures. You will lead a team of outside account managers, setting clear expectations for growth, commercial rigor, and financial performance, while also partnering directly with customers at a senior level.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Drive pricing strategy, profitable growth, and pipeline development across a portfolio of strategic accounts, engaging directly with senior customers alongside your team
  • Lead growth and renewal of multi-year OEM and industrial contract accounts, expanding revenue within existing relationshps and securing new, long-term agreements
  • Own commercial structure and negotiation of long-term supply agreements, ensuring balanced risk and defensible margin performance
  • Direct and develop Outside Account Managers, setting clear standards for account strategy, growth, and execution discpline
  • Serve as senior commercial lead for major accounts, managing executive-level customer relationships, contract escalations, and cross-functional alignment with operations, supply chain, finance, and legal
  • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of sales manaegement experience in metals distribution or industrial sales
  • Experience managing and negotiating multi-year OEM supply agreements
  • Demonstrated leadership of $5M-$15M contract accounts
  • Working knowledge of commodity pricing dynmics and index-based structures
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and present clear, executive-level insights
  • Strong financial acumen, including margin analysis and inventory management
  • Strong communication, presentation, business ethics, and interpersonal skills
