Work to be Performed
The Manager of Development reports directly to the Director of Data and Development Services and is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of talented architects, engineers, and developers who design, develop, and maintain data and software solutions.
You will provide technical guidance, strategic direction, and resourcing that support the firm's business processes and goals. You will also collaborate with other departments, senior management, and vendors to ensure the quality, security, and efficiency of our IT systems and services.
Responsibilities :
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the development team, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, monitoring progress, and providing feedback and coaching
• Ensure data and software solutions are delivered on time and adhere to quality standards as well as security policies
• Guide team members through upskilling and ongoing technology modernization efforts
• Facilitate cross-functional communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project goals and deliverables
• Drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the development team
• Proactively inform management about challenges or risks affecting deliverables, along with proposed solutions
• Provide consistent and transparent status updates to senior management on project progress, team performance, and key milestones
• Champion the transition to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and improve code quality
• Manage the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements as well as maintenance and upgrades for existing applications
Core Skill Sets Required / Other Requirements
Requirements:
• At least 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years of experience in a managerial or leadership role
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including configuration of CI/CD pipelines and project management
• Advanced technical and business knowledge in software development lifecycle, quality assurance, project management and other related processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify and mitigate project risks and issues in a timely manner
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and meticulous attention to detail
Preferred :
• Proficient in various programming languages, frameworks and data integration and analysis (e.g. .NET, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, RestAPI, SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI, etc.)
• Proven ability to lead projects involving data migration to the cloud or modernization of legacy data systems
• Product management best practices, functional design and application delivery methodologies • Knowledge of enterprise data governance best practices
