Job description

Location: Irving, TX Description: Our client is currently seeking a Equipment Engineer in Irving, TX
This job will have the following responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed equipment engineering for network augments. This includes developing all of the specifications required for installation forces to properly install, turn-up, inventory, and configure the equipment, obtaining appropriate management approvals, issuing purchase orders, creating applicable diagrams/ drawings, and ensuring vendor delivery.
    Ensure that work meets all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards.
    Develop Bill of Material and place orders for network equipment, rack, and hardware requirements.
    Define cable requirements, create cable running lists, and order all cables.
    Order all spares required based on sparing plan or directed by capacity management.
    Manage, input, and update central Network Inventory Database (i.e. ICON, Nautilus, CoFEE, CCP) to reflect new builds, adds, and decommissions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or six or more years of relevant work experience
    Experience performing detailed engineering and creating technical documentation
    Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides) tools.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Excellent time management skills
    Direct working knowledge of Tellabs 7100, Nortel 5200, Fuji 9500, Fuji 4500, Fuji 4100 and/or ROADM technology
    Strong knowledge of both Outside Plant and Inside Plant facilities and characteristics
    Experience installing telecommunications equipment
    Experience using CAD based software tools
    Knowledge or familiarity with the following Verizon systems: vBuild, FIM, TCOMS, CANVAS, CCP, COA, SRM/nSAP, AYS
