Adept Nursing & Rehab of  Sutherland is now hiring Full-time Evening Dietary Cook!

Duties of Dietary Cooks:

  • Handles and prepares food in accordance with federal, state and local sanitary regulations.
  • Prepares nutritionally appropriate and appetizing meals, including modified consistency and therapeutic diets, as prescribed by the attending physician.
  • Meets required meal schedules.
  • Takes accurate measures to avoid food waste, including participating in production meetings with supervisor(s) and use of production sheets.
  • Properly cares for dietary equipment.
  • Follows menus and special diet instructions.
  • Takes food temperatures per policy and insures food items are prepared, cooled and stored in adherence to corporate, local, state and federal guidelines. Follow cleaning schedules, and daily deep cleaning task.
  • Communicates freely with supervisor(s).
  • Cooperates with other dietary department staff.
  • Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications for Dietary Cooks:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in institutional food handling is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in the English language.
  • Knowledge of volume food production methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulations and practices as applied to institutional kitchens and related areas.
  • Able to make simple arithmetical calculations.
  • Able to solve operational problems in absence of Dietary Manager and Assistant Dietary Manager.
  • Knowledge of dietetic principles.
