Job description

We are seeking an experienced Production Planner / Account Manager to join a precision manufacturing operation in San Jose. This role will own the connection between customer demand and the production floor-ensuring orders are properly planned, scheduled, tracked, and delivered according to customer commitments.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with JobBOSS (JB2) and understands how to manage production in a high-mix precision machine shop. This person will use JB2 daily to translate customer POs and due dates into an executable production schedule while providing customers with accurate updates based on actual WIP and shop capacity.

Compensation: $80,000-120,000 depending on experience and tenure


Responsibilities:

  • Own production planning and scheduling from customer PO through shipment, using JobBOSS to manage priorities and commitments.
  • Determine when materials need to be ordered, when jobs need to be released, and when production must begin to meet customer due dates.
  • Schedule and track work through machining, outside processing/finishing, inspection/QA, and final shipment.
  • Monitor WIP, material availability, machine capacity, labor, and production constraints and adjust schedules as conditions change.
  • Maintain accurate job status, lead times, routings, start dates, due dates, and customer commit dates within JobBOSS.
  • Identify material shortages, capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and other risks to delivery and develop recovery plans when schedules fall behind.
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Shipping to keep jobs moving and customer priorities aligned.
  • Serve as a primary customer contact for order status, lead times, delivery commitments, and schedule changes.
  • Proactively communicate potential delays and provide customers with realistic recovery plans and updated delivery dates.
  • Help improve and standardize the shop's use of JobBOSS, including scheduling processes, data accuracy, reporting, and overall system utilization.
  • Develop and maintain reporting around WIP, backlog, capacity, shortages, past-due orders, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with JobBOSS / JobBOSS is highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of production planning, scheduling, production control, program management, or account management experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in a precision machine shop, CNC machining, semiconductor, aerospace, or high-mix manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, MRP, materials planning, WIP, capacity planning, and manufacturing process flow.
  • Ability to understand how work moves from raw material through machining, outside processing, quality, and shipment.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and relationship management skills.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP/MRP system skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
