Manager IT - Infrastructure
Location: Houston TX - 4 days/week onsite
Duration: Full time /Direct Hire
Salary: Base + 15% Bonus + Vehicle Program
The Manager, IT is responsible for leading a team of service reliability engineers and support technicians supporting all aspects of the compute, storage and database infrastructure. This strategic role is expected to leverage considerable industry expertise to execute the support of the infrastructure, configuration, administration and governance of on premise and multi-tenant cloud environments. The Manager, IT consults with technical and business teams to support the infrastructure and business applications to ensure continuity of the organization and works closely with the Infrastructure engineering manager to deliver and manage lifecycle of IT assets.
As a Manager, Compute & Storage Ops you will:
Infrastructure Management:
  • Manages all day-to-day tickets, incidents, and related activities of the infrastructure and network for both technical and personnel.
  • Streamlines IT Infrastructure operations tickets and manages expectations with business.
  • Establishes standard operating procedures, policies, checklists, and processes for regular and routine maintenance of systems.
  • Establishes and manages IT lifecycle for IT Infrastructure assets including Hosts, Virtual Machines, Patching, Hardware, and Security.
  • Build and maintains effective monitoring across the infrastructure to ensure proactive monitoring of End-to-End Infrastructure to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures.
  • Manages hardware and software lifecycle maintenance activities.
  • Establishes budgetary requirements for asset refresh, licensing, maintenance agreements and project funding.
  • Analysis and reporting on key metrics required for regular performance, consumption and capacity management.
  • Drives IT automation needs for task level work automation within team.

Staff Management:
  • Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Creates and maintains effective resource plans to meet project delivery and steady state operational resourcing requirements.
  • Manages contractor resourcees as needed.

Vendor Management:
  • Develops or establishes strong relationships with service providers.
  • Coordinates third-party maintenance for hardware and software services.
  • Negotiates and contracts with consultants, technical personnel and vendors for services and products.
  • Proactively coordinates with other departments to address their needs, pain points and business requirements.

Skills/Requirement:
  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or comparable experience.
  • 5-8 Years in Production IT Management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience required managing teams with responsibility for completing complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Extensive experience managing complex Active Directory environments.
  • Extensive experience designing secure, hardened and highly available infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience managing multi-tenant Azure and AWS implementations.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux server OS platforms.
  • Experience working with network/system monitoring tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems while providing superior customer service.
  • Detailed understanding of IP addressing and network technologies.
  • ITIL and public cloud certifications a plus. Preferred
