Job description

IT Infrastructure Team Lead

Sterling Administration is looking for an IT Infrastructure Lead who is a self-motivated individual with a strong background in network infrastructures. This position is onsite at our Oakland

office.


Position Description

This role oversees IT infrastructure, cloud services, and operational support while managing managed service provider partnerships to ensure secure, reliable systems. The position leads IT strategy and Azure cloud design, proactively addresses security risks, and supports critical IT operations and incidents. Close collaboration with internal teams ensures technology solutions align with business needs and data security requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage IT strategy roadmap
  • Manager and plan IT strategy projects
  • Proactively research, monitor and assess IT security risks and propose solutions for strengthening security
  • Design, build, and manage cloud-based applications using Microsoft Azure Cloud Services.
  • Plan and design cloud infrastructure within the Azure environment.
  • Maintain, deploy, and support cloud applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, application deployment, and system performance.
  • Work with IT MSPs to troubleshoot hardware and software errors by documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Recommending upgrades to the network, server and related equipment, software, and other relevant improvements to IT MSPs
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Lead and troubleshoot IT incident calls that come in from IT Desktop Support MSP
  • Provide Mobile phone, Email and Desktop Support as necessary
  • Work with Department leads to offer solutions that meet business needs, but also meet IT data security requirements
  • Monitor Public (External) and Managed PKI (Private/Internal) CA SSL/TLS Certificates for upcoming expiration dates
  • Monitor all expiry notifications to ensure no issues result from Certificate expiration
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or cloud operations.
  • Hands‐on experience with Azure, security controls, MSP management, and IT operations.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage vendors, and serve as an escalation point for critical incidents.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, work well under pressure and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to manage work under tight deadlines.
  • Basic project management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
