Job description

NOW HIRING
Health/Human Services Case Manager I
DHSS Division of Social Services – Blue Hen Corporate Center, 655 Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901
Dover, DE • $19.50/Hour • Full-Time
Staffing Assignment through Goodwill® Staffing Services

The Delaware Division of Social Services (DSS) helps Delawareans access food assistance, Medicaid, cash assistance, and other vital benefits. We're looking for an organized, dependable Health/Human Services Case Manager I to join our team at the Blue Hen Corporate Center in Dover, supporting the daily workflow that keeps applications, casework, and communication moving efficiently across the unit.
What You'll Do
  • Pull the daily applications received list from the DSS eligibility system.
  • Screen and assign daily applications received.
  • Generate daily assignment logs.
  • Create and update records in the application tracking system.
  • Retrieve faxes and distribute them to the assigned worker.
  • Prepare and process documents for and through the Document Imaging System.
  • Sort, date stamp, and process incoming, homeless, and returned mail for the team, and distribute accordingly.
  • Answer the telephone, screen calls, refer to the appropriate worker/POD or agency, and take messages.
  • Photocopy, date stamp, and distribute information as requested.
  • Mail applications as appropriate, noting the date sent.
  • Maintain forms and supplies for efficient unit operation.
  • Coordinate case transfers to other DSS locations or the DIS case file.
  • Maintain logs and process requests for cases from ARMS, other units, and Quality Control, including audits.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in administrative, clerical, or human services casework preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate records and logs.
  • Comfort using multiple systems and databases for daily casework.
  • Clear phone and communication skills for screening and directing calls.
  • Ability to manage multiple daily tasks — mail, faxes, logs, and case transfers — efficiently.
  • Dependability and punctuality; good time management habits.
  • Ability to follow DSS office procedures and maintain an organized workspace.
What We Offer
  • $17.50 per hour.
  • Competitive benefits
  • Full-time hours with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule.
  • Meaningful work supporting Delawareans access needed services.
  • A supportive, mission-driven team environment.
Why This Role Matters
Behind every benefits application is a Delaware family or individual counting on a timely, accurate process. As a Health/Human Services Case Manager I, you'll help keep that process running smoothly — screening applications, routing calls, managing logs, and coordinating case files so caseworkers can focus on the people they serve.
