Job description

The mission of Global Logistics Support Services, Incorporated (GLSS) is to provide Maintenance, Supply, Logistics, and Technical Support Services that meet or exceed customer requirements. Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, GLSS is a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of System Studies and Simulation, Inc (S3).

Global Logistics Support Services, (GLSS), an S Inc. company, has an immediate opening for an Aircraft Mechanic II to join our team in Springfield, IL.

Military experience is a plus.

Job Description:

Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic II's can inspect Mechanic II's and I's.

Responsibilities:

  • This mechanic maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures as well as structural components of moderate difficulty. 

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. 

  • Have technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions. 

  • Be able to apply required expertise in restoring equipment condition to operation. 

  • Be able to apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers manuals.

  • The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. 

  • May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. 

  • This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical components, troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts. 

  • Requires a broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal, structural modifications, and repairs. 

  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory. 

  • Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. 

  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedule on assigned projects. 

  • May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics, or other aircraft systems related disciplines.

Additional Requirements:

  • Aircraft Engine Technician troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs sequential disassembly and assembly of F110-GE-100/100B/129, T34-GE-100A, and F118-GE-101A engines. 

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled engine inspections IAW applicable Technical Data. 

  • Candidates must have one year of experience performing Intermediate Level Jet Engine Maintenance.

  • Intermediate Level jet engine repair experience on F100-GE-100/100B/129 engines is highly desired.
