A&P Aircraft Mechanic – GA Piston Aircraft

Location: Chandler, AZ

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $33.00 – $48.00 per hour W2 (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled A&P Aircraft Mechanic to support general aviation piston fleet operations in Chandler, AZ. Working closely with hangar leadership, you will execute routine servicing, scheduled inspections, and unscheduled repairs on single-engine piston aircraft (including Piper Archers featuring Garmin G1000 glass cockpits). This position offers long-term career stability, a predictable 4-day morning workweek, and a collaborative maintenance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled 100-hour and annual inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs in strict alignment with 14 CFR Parts 43 and 91 regulations and operational standards.

  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting, component servicing, and system repairs across piston airframes and engines.

  • Execute accurate aircraft logbook sign-offs for return to service and maintain digital maintenance records in Talon RMS and Microsoft Office platforms.

  • Review and interpret technical documentation, including maintenance manuals, IPCs, wiring diagrams, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Service Bulletins (SBs).

  • Uphold safety guidelines and shop cleanliness while working around aviation fuels, solvents, and hangar equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Active FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license required at time of hire.

  • Minimum 2 years of post-licensure General Aviation (GA) maintenance experience (A&P school/training time does not count toward this requirement).

  • Direct hands-on maintenance experience with single-engine GA piston aircraft (e.g., Piper Archer/Cherokee, Cessna 152/172, Diamond DA40/42, or Cirrus SR series).

  • Possession of a personal hand tool set appropriate for general aviation servicing.

  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office and the ability to navigate digital maintenance management programs (Talon RMS).

  • Physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and comfortably perform standing, bending, reaching, and stooping in indoor hangar and outdoor ramp environments.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Direct hands-on maintenance experience specifically focused on Piper aircraft platforms.

  • Familiarity or practical experience working around Garmin G1000 glass cockpit systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound independent airworthiness decisions and manage workflow priorities.
