Description:

Are you a financial strategist ready to drive data-driven decision-making for affordable housing?

At the Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), we are on a mission to ensure all Vermonters have access to affordable housing. We are looking for a Senior FP&A Analyst who is part financial modeling expert, part strategic advisor, and entirely results-driven.

This role leads the Agency's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio risk analysis. Working closely with Finance Leadership, Homeownership, Multi-Family Development, and Asset Management, you will transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that shape executive decision-making and safeguard our loan portfolios.

  • Build Financial Models & Dashboards: Design agency-wide financial dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and sophisticated financial models to support strategic initiatives and management decisions.
  • Refine Revenue & Cost Allocation: Partner with Finance leadership to design allocation methodologies, policies, and procedures that optimize resource deployment across programs.
  • Optimize Systems & Reporting: Extract and manipulate data from financial systems, building efficient tools to streamline internal management reporting and external financial requirements.

Credit & Portfolio Risk Monitoring

  • Analyze Portfolio Performance: Monitor and report on the credit quality, risk trends, interest rate exposure, and concentration of metrics across VHFA's multi-family loan portfolio.
  • Support Scenario Testing: Lead stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk assessments related to loan portfolios and associated financing.
  • Collaborate on Mitigation: Partner with Asset Management and lending teams to proactively identify emerging portfolio risks and craft mitigation strategies.

Work Environment & Flexibility

This position offers a hybrid work structure. You will work in our collaborative office environment and remotely coordinated with your supervisor once fully trained, with in-office presence required for key agency meetings and events.

The Perks

A comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and the family or optional buy-out plan

  • Flexible Spending Account & Dependent Care Account
  • Company-sponsored Short and Long-Term Disability
  • Company-sponsored Life Insurance
  • Up to $4,000 educational assistance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Combined Time Off & Holiday Pay
  • Up to 6 weeks of paid time off for parental and family leave
  • Parking Reimbursement for designated lots
  • 403b Savings Account & 457 Retirement Plan

Ready to help us build a stronger community? Apply today to join our collaborative, solution-oriented team!

Requirements:

What You Bring to the Table

  • Relevant Experience: At least 7 years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, or financial reporting, OR an equivalent combination of education (such as a Master's degree) and experience.
  • Financial Modeling & Tech Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial systems, data extraction, and business intelligence/visualization tools like Power BI. Experience utilizing core software and modern workplace technology (including AI tools) to drive efficiency.
  • Portfolio & Credit Expertise: Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting principles, with familiarity in credit risk analysis or loan portfolio performance metrics strongly preferred.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Mission Alignment: A heart for community and a deep alignment with VHFA’s VIIBE values: Integrity, Innovation, Belonging, and Equity.
