Your expertise and leadership will shape a culture of environmental, health and safety excellence throughout our organization.

The EHS Manager reports directly to the multi-site Sr. EHS Manager.  This is an on-site role, with core operating hours Monday-Friday and the flexibility to respond during second and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive the implementation and ongoing compliance of our Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Management System.
  • Improve and standardize/combine EHS programs, including replicating best practices and lessons learned, across the two facilities.
  • Facilitate, conduct, and advise on EHS training initiatives, including the development of effective training materials.
  • Take charge of investigating all high-risk actual/potential incidents and oversee the root cause and corrective action processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant federal, state and local EHS legal and regulatory requirements, as well as any company-specific standards that surpass regulatory mandates.
  • Manage the sites’ environmental programs, including permits, waste management, SPCC/emergency response, regulatory reports, inspections, and more.

  • Work with the Site Leads to develop annual EHS plans, objectives, and targets, and supports monthly reporting of performance.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure that the safety of employees and the protection of company property are integral parts of the planning, designing and construction of facilities or modifications to facilities or processes.
  • Work with supervisors and department managers to complete job/task risk assessments, both qualitative and quantitative, and develop solutions to minimize risk(s).
  • Provide support for medical and industrial hygiene programs, collaborating closely with Human Resources and Operations teams on pre-employment fitness for duty and return-to-work evaluations.
  • Work closely with the risk management and external insurance firms to report and proactively identify and address worker’s compensation and loss prevention issues, ensuring the implementation of recommendations from site assessments.
  • Supervise and coach full-time EHS specialists and technicians supporting management of site EHS requirements, work closely with wastewater and hazardous waste technicians, and facilitate the sites’ EHS Committees.
  • Supervise EHS consultants and contractors hired for specialized services such as industrial hygiene testing, fit testing, ventilation systems design/testing, sample collection, and other EHS-related activities; and support the site’s contractor safety program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications are a plus.
