Job description

Facility Security Officer (FSO)
Purpose:
  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a full-time Facility Security Officer (FSO) in our Huntsville, AL office to play a pivotal role in the support and growth of the company’s Security program.
Job Description:
  • Administer the company’s Security Standard Practice guidelines to ensure ongoing consistency and governmental compliance, always with an eye toward possible improvements.
  • Perform security-related administrative support functions to include using:
    • Defense Information System for Security (DISS)
    • National Background Investigation Services (NBIS)
    • National Industrial Security System (NISS)
    • Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)
  • Process personnel security clearances and track security clearance investigations.
  • Conduct security briefings, debriefings, awareness training, and other contractually-required courses.
  • Investigate security violations and incidents and prepare reports as appropriate.
  • Review DD Form 254s and upload to NISS per governmental requirement, and generate flow-down DD Form 254s for subcontractors.
  • Conduct annual Self-inspections and prepare for Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Security Reviews, Security Monitoring Actions, and internal audits.
  • Process incoming and outgoing classified storage requests and maintain all required documents.
  • Provide enterprise-wide security admin support in conjunction with other company FSOs.
  • Process facility clearance (FCL) sponsorships as needed.
  • As a member of the Insider Threat Working Group (ITWG), partner with the Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO) and others Group members in support of the program.
  • Participate in contract kickoff meetings to advise on security-related contractual requirements.
  • As Huntsville’s designated location coordinator, perform monthly safety, quality, and emergency-related functions, and maintain building access control, alarm systems, and other physical facility functions and service requests.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years’ experience as a facility security officer (FSO) in an organization holding a Facility Clearance Level (FCL) falling under 32 CFR, Part 117 NISPOM (or its preceding document, NISPOM).
  • Must have current FSO Certification for Possessing Facilities and other related training courses.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM and related DoD security regulations, as well as demonstrated proficiency with Insider Threat programs.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the DISS, NISS, and related government databases.
  • Must have strong administrative support skills: detail-oriented, accurate, organized.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability within the scope of the position.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with classified systems, system accreditation, and/or cybersecurity, preferred.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining SCIF and/or open storage spaces, preferred.
  • Experience as an Information Security Systems Manager (ISSM), preferred.
  • Experience with Export Compliance EAR/ITAR and DECCS access, preferred.
Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
Travel Requirements:
  • Infrequent travel to Virginia Beach/Corporate.
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Requirements consistent with office/administrative work. Will be required to travel to company facilities as needed.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
