Position Summary
We are hiring for a Electrical Project Engineer with a strong technical foundation in electrical/mechanical design and development, particularly within renewable energy, RNG, hydrogen, or oil & gas sectors. This role is responsible for delivering engineering, design, and drafting support across the full project lifecycle—from concept through completion. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical expertise with strong communication skills to support complex energy infrastructure projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and electrical engineering expertise across all phases of EPC project delivery for CNG and RNG facilities.
  • Lead electrical engineering scope from conceptual design through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, structural, and process engineering teams to ensure fully integrated and constructible designs.
  • Develop and review electrical system designs, including power distribution, grounding, hazardous area classification, and control systems.
  • Prepare and validate electrical equipment specifications for compressors, gas processing systems, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and instrumentation.
  • Manage and review engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with EPC scope, project schedule, budget, and contractual requirements.
  • Interface directly with clients, subcontractors, and EPC partners to resolve technical issues and maintain project alignment.
  • Support procurement activities, including development of RFQs, technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and submittal reviews.
  • Review and coordinate P&IDs and PFDs to ensure proper integration of electrical and control systems within CNG/RNG facilities.
  • Develop quantity take-offs and support cost estimating for electrical scope during both proposal and execution phases.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent EPC projects, ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, environmental regulations, and local/state codes.
  • Collaborate with design teams and OEMs to produce construction-ready drawing packages and specifications.
  • Support construction activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and providing field engineering support.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, HAZOPs, and design reviews to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Lead electrical input into facility layout, focusing on safety, accessibility, and installation efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical representative during client meetings, project kickoffs, and progress reviews.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to review and update electrical drawings, redlines, and as-built documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, standardization, and project execution efficiency within the EPC framework.
  • Maintain strong coordination with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and compliance of electrical equipment.
  • Evaluate new technologies and vendors to enhance system performance and reduce project costs.
  • Support R&D and value engineering efforts to optimize designs without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensure all electrical designs meet company standards, client specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate outsourced engineering services and ensure quality and consistency across all disciplines.
  • Attend and lead project kickoff meetings to confirm scope, roles, and execution strategy.
  • Provide commissioning and startup support, ensuring proper installation, testing, and operation of electrical systems.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited university.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial, energy, or gas processing electrical engineering.
  • Experience leading engineering/ design teams, field personnel, and vendors.
  • PE License preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable industry codes.
  • Understanding industrial drafting standards, symbols, process, instrumentation, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; able to revise and maintain electrical drawings.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, controls, and instrumentation
  • Experienced in developing specifications for the design and fabrication of mechanical plant processes.
  • Experienced in evaluation of customer specifications, with aptitude to communicate directly with customers.
  • Strong communicator with ability to interface directly with customers and cross‑functional teams
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented professional with a focus on schedule, quality, and results.
  • Experienced in quality review of fabricated and assembled equipment, cost review and control.
  • Must be able to achieve positive results in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  • Must be able to comprehend the interdependence of all operations in the production process and make decisions that lead to the efficient use of available resources while maintaining project schedule.
  • Must have strong and effective organizational, documentation, presentation, and communication skills.

  • Must be a hands-on engineer, able to delegate, and drive processes efficiently.

  • Knowledge of other disciplines: electrical, controls, process engineering, civil structural, and civil land.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license, without any restrictions.
Work Hours and Arrangements
Standard Monday - Friday, first shift (exempt position); must be available for after-hours/weekend calls as business needs demand. The role is expected to work onsite in office five days a week with up to 25% travel.

Field responsibilities include performing walk downs at active construction, industrial, or operational sites; walking on uneven or unimproved surfaces such as gravel, dirt, concrete, steel grating, and scaffolding; climbing stairs, ladders (including vertical ladders), and scaffolding; working at heights and in confined or congested spaces; and safely wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include hard hats, safety glasses, steel toe boots, gloves, hearing protection, fall protection equipment, and respirators as dictated by site conditions. The position requires the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments with potential exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, lighting, and nearby moving equipment, while maintaining situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols. Travel and extended work hours may be required to support project needs.

The range for this role is anticipated to be $120,000-$140,000 annually with bonus for eligible positions. Where a specific pay range is noted, it is a good faith estimate at the time of this posting.  The actual salary offered will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market / business considerations, and geographic location.
