Job description

This role seeks a senior structuring professional to lead investment structuring in insurance solutions, focusing on capital-efficient structures across various investment types. The ideal candidate must have substantial experience with insurance balance sheets and regulatory capital frameworks, particularly in the U.S. and similar jurisdictions.

We are seeking a senior structuring professional to lead investment structuring for Ares Insurance Solutions. This individual will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and executing capital-efficient investment structures across private credit, structured credit, asset-backed finance, reinsurance-linked investments, fund structures, and strategic origination platforms. This work will involve working with internal deal teams and rating agencies to achieve capital efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in insurance balance sheets, regulatory capital frameworks, rating agency considerations, and investment structuring across the U.S., Bermuda, and Cayman Islands. This role will partner closely with investments, risk, actuarial, finance, legal, tax, accounting, and external counterparties to develop structures that optimize risk-adjusted returns, capital efficiency, liquidity, duration, and statutory treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the structuring of complex investment transactions across private credit, structured credit, asset-backed finance, fund investments, lending platforms, and other private asset strategies
  • Design investment structures that align with the company’s insurance liabilities, portfolio objectives, risk appetite, liquidity needs, and capital framework
  • Be primary point of contact for rating agencies for AIS
  • Evaluate transaction terms, legal structures, cash flow waterfalls, collateral packages, financing arrangements, covenants, rating agency treatment, and downside protections
  • Partner with internal and external counsel on legal documentation, vehicle formation, collateral arrangements, financing agreements, and governance rights
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on capital-efficient investment structures for insurance company portfolios
  • Analyze regulatory capital implications across relevant jurisdictions, including U.S. RBC, Bermuda BSCR, Cayman MCR/PCR, and other applicable insurance capital frameworks
  • Work with actuarial, finance, tax, accounting, legal, and risk teams to evaluate how proposed structures affect the broader insurance balance sheet
  • Monitor regulatory developments in the U.S., Bermuda, Cayman Islands, and other relevant markets that may affect investment strategy, capital treatment, and transaction structuring
  • Provide senior leadership with recommendations on transaction structure, risk mitigants, capital efficiency, and portfolio fit
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in structuring transactions, insurance investments, structured finance, investment banking, private credit, reinsurance, asset management, insurance solutions, or capital markets
  • Significant experience structuring investments for insurance company balance sheets
  • Deep understanding of U.S. insurance regulatory capital, including NAIC designations, RBC, statutory accounting, and insurance investment constraints
  • Good working knowledge of Bermuda and Cayman insurance capital frameworks, including BSCR, MCR/PCR, and related solvency considerations
  • Experience with structured credit, asset-backed finance, private credit, securitizations, fund structures, reinsurance transactions, financing vehicles, and/or lending platforms
  • Ability to evaluate transaction economics, cash flow waterfalls, collateral structures, legal documentation, accounting treatment, tax considerations, and rating agency implications
  • Proven ability to lead complex transactions across multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong executive presence and ability to present clearly to investment committees, senior management, boards, regulators, and rating agencies

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

Pay Transparency

$200,000.00 - $225,000.00
