JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for supporting the lifecycle management of information technology hardware and software assets throughout the organization. Coordinates inventory control processes, asset tracking, hardware deployment, software entitlement tracking, workstation assembly and configuration, technology receiving and warehousing operations, and documentation maintenance. Ensures the accuracy of technology inventories, supports compliance requirements, assists with technology audits, and maintains effective asset management procedures to support organizational operations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
IT Asset Lifecycle Management and Inventory Control (30%)
- Control inventory levels by enforcing standard processes, conducting physical counts, and supporting technology audits.
- Audit hardware inventories for accuracy.
- Support the asset management lifecycle of information technology hardware and software assets throughout the organization.
- Maintain and monitor hardware and software inventory within the asset tracking system to ensure compliance.
- Maintain accurate and timely inventories of hardware and software assets within the Service Desk system.
- Maintain Asset Management files and inventory documentation in accordance with Information Technology Operations processes.
- Identify and report potential issues with the asset tracking tool, supporting systems, and related inputs; develop and maintain associated program and process documentation.
- Track software entitlements in support of hardware refreshes, end-of-life processes, and related projects; investigate and resolve discrepancies to maintain data integrity.
Hardware Deployment and Technical Support (25%)
- Assemble, configure, and test network workstations.
- Receive and evaluate new and returned technology equipment.
- Assign asset tags as required.
- Test equipment for damage and proper operation.
- Ensure all equipment is accurately updated in the inventory and asset management system.
- Pull stock and/or new items to stage parts lists for upcoming installations.
- Maintain documentation related to specialized procedures, applications, and system configurations.
Receiving, Warehousing, and Distribution Operations (20%)
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing processes and procedures.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and orderly warehouse, stockroom, and office environment at all times.
- Organize and maintain technology equipment stored in warehouses and stockrooms.
- Coordinate the storage, movement, and distribution of technology assets.
Asset Optimization and Vendor Coordination (15%)
- Work with vendors to schedule repairs, maintenance, or other requested services.
- Identify areas for cost savings through the discovery of unallocated equipment, alternative support options, rationalization efforts, and hardware deployment practices.
- Identify and recommend hardware and software assets that may be harvested, repurposed, or replaced with lower-cost alternatives.
Professional Development (5%)
- Maintain current knowledge of Information Technology Services by attending seminars, workshops, training courses, and reviewing current industry literature.
Other Duties (5%)
- Complete all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or a related field; OR
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Knowledge of information technology asset management principles and practices.
- Ability to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software systems.
- Knowledge of hardware inventory, asset tracking, and software license management processes.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze information and identify discrepancies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with administrators, faculty, staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and maintain operational procedures and documentation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as medium work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
