Summary

The Manager, Assets and Capitalization is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of company assets, including capitalization, depreciation, inventory management, and related financial reporting. This role partners cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, and Operations to ensure accurate financial treatment, strong internal controls, and actionable reporting that supports business decision-making. The position also leads process improvements across asset tracking systems and supervises a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

Asset Management & Accounting

  • In conjunction with our Accounting team, manage capitalization and depreciation of startup costs in accordance with accounting standards
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, including Construction in Progress (CIP), asset capitalization, transfers, and disposals
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger
  • Ensure accuracy of depreciation schedules and monthly close processes

Inventory & Uniform Asset Oversight

  • Manage uniform inventory across warehouses and field (on-guard assets)
  • Track inventory movements, balances, and valuation
  • Oversee uniform-related accruals and expense recognition

Accruals & Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Record and manage expense accruals for uniforms, rental vehicles, lodging, and supplies
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, including:
  • Accrued expenses
  • Fixed assets
  • CIP
  • Inventory and related offset accounts
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data and supporting documentation

Fleet & Operational Reporting

  • Produce and analyze weekly fleet health reporting, including:
  • Total vehicle counts and utilization
  • Rental tracking and return status
  • Maintenance and inspection compliance
  • Partner with Operations to identify risks, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities

Firearms & Asset Tracking Reporting

  • Deliver weekly reporting on firearm status, including reported, unreported, and lost items
  • Maintain accurate tracking and visibility of high-risk assets

Telecom & Additional Asset Tracking

  • Oversee reporting and tracking of telephone assets and related inventory

Systems & Process Stewardship

  • Administer and improve inventory reporting systems, fleet tracking tools, and related platforms
  • Support PO system GL mapping, SKU structure, and data integrity
  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across asset tracking and reporting

Financial Analysis & Decision Support

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support pricing, cost management, and strategic decisions
  • Identify trends and insights across asset and operational data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, asset management, or financial analysis
  • Strong understanding of fixed assets, capitalization, and accrual accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems and asset management tools
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
