Summary

Bertrandt US is seeking an ADAS Engineer with a strong focus on hands-on troubleshooting and vehicle support activities. This role supports Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) deployed on prototype, test, and pre-series vehicles. The position is highly execution-focused and requires frequent domestic travel to support ADAS vehicles at customer sites, test locations, and engineering hubs across the United States. (30-50% travel anticipated).

Scope: This position is focused on technical execution and hands-on troubleshooting activities. Contributes to root-cause analysis and system stabilization. (It does not include overall system ownership or personnel management responsibilities).


Key Responsibilities:

ADAS Troubleshooting, Vehicle Recovery & Analysis
  • Perform systematic troubleshooting of ADAS hardware and software issues on prototype and test vehicles
  • Restore non-operational vehicles to a functional state through on-site analysis and hands-on repair activities
  • Execute system health diagnostics and evaluate vehicle logs and measurement data
  • Support root-cause analysis through structured data collection and documentation
  • Analyze vehicle E/E and network architectures including CAN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet

Prototype Build-Up, Commissioning & Repair

  • Execute bring-up and commissioning of ADAS prototypes, systems, and sensors
  • Perform ECU flashing, sensor calibration, and diagnostic readouts
  • Replace ECUs, sensors, wiring, and measurement hardware as required
  • Operate and maintain vehicle diagnostic and measurement equipment
  • Drive and operate test vehicles and ADAS prototype

Coordination, Processes & Documentation

  • Coordinate activities with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and external partners
  • Follow defined change request and release management procedures
  • Use issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA) for task and issue management
  • Document troubleshooting activities, findings, and corrective actions
Field Support
  • Travel to domestic ADAS problem vehicles and support locations (up to ~50%)
Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field (such as Mechatronics, Software, Computer Engineering)
  • 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in ADAS development or testing
  • Strong knowledge of ADAS systems and sensors (camera, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonic)
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting vehicle hardware and software issues
  • Experience with ECU flashing, coding, and software updates
  • Solid understanding of automotive electrical/electronic systems and connectors
  • Experience analyzing automotive networks (CAN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with automotive diagnostic and analysis tools (e.g., CANoe, DTS Monaco, Wireshark)
  • Ability to analyze diagnostic logs, traces, and measurement data
  • Hands-on, structured, and independent working style
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Valid US driverโ€™s license and willingness to travel extensively
  • Some weekend support needed, depending

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in OEM or Tier 1 automotive development environments
  • Experience supporting vehicles in the field or at customer sites
  • Knowledge of On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)
  • Mercedes-Benz specific vehicle or ADAS experience
  • Experience with crimping, wiring, and harness repair
  • Mercedes-Benz Driver Licenses T1 and/or BERTHA
