$16.50/hr. and a Free YMCA Membership

Mondays - 5:00pm-7:30pm, Tuesdays - 11:30am-2:30pm & 5:00pm-6:30pm, Thursdays - 8:30am-12:00pm, and Saturdays - 9:30am-12:30pm


Under the general direction of the Director, the assistant is responsible for assisting in the planning and implementing age appropriate curriculum for the makerspace. This position also assists in any special programming for makerspace. The makerspace assistant is responsible for engaging children in healthy, safe, and fun activities. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Helping to implement programs and activities in the makerspace.

With the assistance of the lead coordinator, prepare a list of supplies and materials needed for the studio and programs.

Along with the lead, maintain and organize the program area and materials.

Observe and promote safety and security procedures.

Communicate with the lead coordinator in all programming.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, staff and volunteers.

Responds to emergencies appropriately in accordance to his/her level of training and circumstances.

Maintain all required certifications.

Attend all required trainings, meetings, and other designated YMCA events.

All other duties as assigned.


Requirements


Be at least 18 years of age.

Must have experience in the specific program area including STEM/STEAM, engineering or robotics.

Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with people.

Have strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.

Possess knowledge of age appropriate activities

Must possess or have the ability to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 60 days of employment.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing, aggressive behavior).
