Description
The Makerspace Lab Assistant is responsible for overseeing member use of the space and assisting with machine reservations and in space purchases.
This is a part time position 8-20 hours per week. This position will be mostly Fridays with some flexibility for additional weekday and Saturday coverage.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have the following skills:
  • Personable with a desire to work with the community and create relationship with members
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn Square POS system and software
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn Bookly reservation software
  • Interest in and ability to learn the equipment and software and share the learned knowledge
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to confidently trouble shoot and proactively problem solve
  • Possess the confidence to address member safety and policy violations
  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED training, or willingness to receive this certification

Job Responsibilities
The Lab Technician shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
  1. Maintain a safe, clean, and creative work environment for MACCLab.
  2. Maintain continuity of service in member assistance and machine knowledge between the Makerspace Assistant and Makerspace Director
  3. Oversee day to day operations of the makerspace equipment. Assist members with machine difficulties, assess the need for service, and alert the Makerspace Technician of machine maintenance or repair needs.
  4. Assist members/users with memberships, class enrollments, machine reservations and material purchases.
  5. Monitor and aid members/users in the safe use and handling of equipment and materials.
  6. Work with Makerspace instructors to prepare necessary documents and materials for class based on course enrollment. Track course attendance and alert Makerspace Director of any no show students.
  7. Assist Makerspace Director in inventory tracking and alert them of material needs for classes and purchase.
  8. Understand, adhere to, and hold members accountable to, the processes and policies of makerspace use.
  9. Possess a general knowledge of all space equipment and policies to adequately direct tours and answer potential member/user questions.
  10. Understand and follow proper opening and closing procedures.
  11. Remain organized and communicate effectively with Makerspace Technician and Makerspace Director.
  12. Reports to the Makerspace Director.
