Job Summary
The CSUF Pollak Library is seeking creative, outgoing, and tech-savvy individuals to staff the library's new Makerspace. The Makerspace is a resource where students can access various new equipment to inspire creativity and learning. Currently, the Makerspace has a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, sewing machines, podcasting production equipment, and more. Under the supervision of Library staff you will provide guidance in using the equipment, troubleshoot equipment issues, and oversee reservations.
Minimum Qualifications
No prior work experience is required, but previous experience with any of the Makespace equipment is preferred. Must be comfortable with new technology, able help others use equipment, communicate with fellow staff and supervisors effectively, and adhere to safety protocols for all equipment. Must be reliable, conscientious, and capable of some independent judgment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance in using Makerspace equipment
- Troubleshoot any equipment errors
- Update equipment policies and safety training material
- Keep an inventory of supplies
- Assist with equipment reservations
- Assist walk-ins for equipment
- Maintain files
- Adhere to safety protocol
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
- Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
- In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
- Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
