As a Communications Strategist at Vanguard, you will join a highly respected Corporate Communications team that serves as trusted advisors to senior leaders across the enterprise. In this role, you will support communications for Vanguard Investor Choice - a program empowering equity index fund investors with a more direct voice in proxy voting.
You will develop and execute integrated communications strategies and serve as a trusted advisor and spokesperson on Investor Choice. As a mid-level strategist, you will independently lead workstreams while partnering closely with senior leaders.
What you'll do:
  • Support the Investor Choice communications strategy and execution, with a focus on driving awareness, education and ultimately participation across key audiences.
  • Translate a topic with limited investor familiarity into action, helping investors understand proxy voting, why it matters, and how they can participate.
  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to business partners, offering actionable recommendations and helping shape messaging and approach for key initiatives.
  • Act as a spokesperson on Investor Choice, supporting media and stakeholder engagement while proactively managing reputational risk.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, industry influencers, and business partners to shape narratives and secure impactful coverage.
  • Develop high-impact communications materials, including press releases, executive briefings and FAQs ensuring consistency and alignment to Vanguard's voice and positioning.
  • Monitor regulatory, policy, and industry developments related to proxy voting and proxy choice programs, identifying risks, opportunities, and emerging narratives.
  • Collaborate across Corporate Communications, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and business teams to ensure coordinated, enterprise-aligned communications.

Who we're looking for:
  • Experience serving as a spokesperson and managing media inquiries strongly preferred.

  • Sound judgment in balancing risk, reputation, and business priorities - particularly in sensitive situations
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with media
  • Experience using data and insights to measure impact and refine communications strategies
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, helping shape the narrative around an evolving, innovative program

Qualifications
