Balancing scheduled maintenance with unexpected breakdowns requires strong organizational skills and effective communication with supervisors and other departments. Time management and adaptability are essential, as priorities may shift quickly based on equipment failures or production needs. Many organizations use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to help track tasks and improve workflow efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a maintenance technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Maintenance Technician, you need solid troubleshooting skills, mechanical and electrical knowledge, and often a high school diploma or technical certification. Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, HVAC systems, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is typically required.
