Maine Veterans' Homes is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Maine's veterans and families. We are seeking a Maintenance Worker II to join our dedicated team at MVH - Scarborough. The Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and repair work to buildings, grounds and equipment, in order to provide a safe, functional, sanitary and comfortable environment for the residents, employees and the public. This position also assists the Environmental Services Manager in meeting environmental care compliance with all federal and state regulations. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, and shares in the on-call responsibility.

Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience, education and/or training in general maintenance and repair work, with a basic knowledge of carpentry, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, grounds keeping, and custodial functions.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment helpful.
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Maine driver's license.
  • Requires proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to understand and respond to residents' needs and inquiries in English is required.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally and in writing, in English, is required.
  • Basic computer skills
