Position Summary
The Sr. Aviation Technical Planner and Scheduler is responsible for translating aviation maintenance, modification, and sustainment requirements into executable work packages, schedules, and resource plans. This position analyzes technical requirements contained in Maintenance Work Orders (MWOs), Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), engineering drawings, technical manuals, service bulletins, and other technical data to develop Bills of Material (BOMs), labor estimates, tooling requirements, material plans, and schedules necessary to support aircraft maintenance, modification, repair & overhaul programs.
The Sr. Aviation Technical Planner and Scheduler serves as a technical subject matter expert and works as an integral member of the Business Development team, supporting proposal development, capture activities, cost estimating, and technical solution development. The position also provides planning and scheduling support to operations teams as workload and priorities permit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze and interpret aviation technical data including:
    • Maintenance Work Orders (MWOs)
    • Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs)
    • Engineering drawings and specifications
    • Technical Orders (TOs)
    • Service Bulletins (SBs)
    • Maintenance manuals and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs)
    • OEM technical publications and engineering change documentation

  • Develop detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) from technical requirements, including:
    • Aircraft parts and components
    • Consumable materials
    • Hazardous materials
    • Common hardware and shop supplies
    • Stockage and bench stock requirements
    • Repair materials and kits
    • Electrical harness fabrication
    • Mechanical assemblies for fabrication
  • Develop labor build-ups and work breakdown structures including:
    • Labor hour estimates by skill category
    • Work sequencing and task dependencies
    • Critical path identification
    • Schedule development and maintenance
    • Resource loading and manpower requirements
  • Identify and document:
    • Special tooling requirements
    • General shop tooling requirements
    • Test equipment requirements
    • Ground support equipment (GSE) needs
    • Facilities and infrastructure requirements
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules supporting:
    • Aircraft modifications
    • Depot maintenance activities
    • Sustainment programs
    • Field service activities
    • Production and installation schedules
  • Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations personnel to ensure technical requirements are fully understood and executable.
  • Support Business Development activities including:
    • Proposal development and technical volume preparation
    • Cost estimating and Basis of Estimate (BOE) development
    • Capture strategy and solution development
    • Technical risk assessments
    • Customer technical discussions and site visits
  • Provide planning and scheduling support to operational programs as required, including schedule updates, resource planning, and technical problem solving.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and process flow diagrams to communicate technical and program information to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Aviation Management, Business, or related technical discipline; equivalent military or industry experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation maintenance, aircraft modifications, depot maintenance, or technical planning and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying:
    • MWOs
    • TCTOs
    • Engineering drawings
    • Technical Orders
    • Maintenance manuals
    • OEM technical documentation
  • Experience developing:
    • Bills of Material (BOMs)
    • Labor estimates and build-ups
    • Integrated Master Schedules (IMS)
    • Material requirements plans
    • Tooling and equipment requirements
  • Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance processes, logistics, and supply chain operations.
  • Experience supporting government or commercial aviation programs.
  • Eligibility for Secret or higher security clearance
