Job description

Overview

Plans and performs a variety of machine operations utilizing numerical control machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal workpieces to specifications.


Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Read blueprint drawings and parts list to process parts
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Ability to perform basic math skills
  • Basic programming skills
  • Set up, adjust, and efficiently operate CNC and manual machine tools to perform diversified and difficult operations requiring close/exact tolerances on products with various dimension and finish specifications
  • Calculate and set controls and programming to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials into machine
  • Maintain and inspect cutting tools for sharpness and usability
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required
  • Clean and maintain machine, tooling, and parts to ensure that the equipment is in optimal production condition
  • Maintain and edit CNC programs to fine tune process for optimum performance

Physical Requirements 

Heavy industrial environment with mechanical activities requiring personal protective equipment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Reach above shoulders
  • Lift 50 pounds
