Full-time

Job description

Updated September 2, 2026

At a Glance

Company: Camtool, Inc.
Location: Muncie, Indiana
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $35–$45/hr (based on experience)
Shift: Day Shift
Overtime: Available as needed
Experience Level: 5+ years Swiss CNC experience, 2+ years Swiss CNC programming
Machines: Swiss CNC Lathes (any brand)
CAM Software: PartMaker

---

Why This Role Exists

Camtool is a small shop working to build out its own in-house Swiss capability. Rather than splitting programming, setup, and running across multiple people, they need one experienced Swiss machinist who can own all three independently — programming in PartMaker, setting up jobs, and running production — and help train others as the department grows.

This is a chance to shape a Swiss department from the ground up rather than simply staff an existing one.

---

The Work You’ll Be Doing

  • Program Swiss CNC lathes in PartMaker from customer prints and specs
  • Set up and run Swiss lathes from your own and established programs
  • Develop setup sheets and manage tooling and tool life
  • Edit programs and adjust offsets to dial in cycle time, chip control, and tool usage
  • Analyze job travelers to determine operation sequence, tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • Perform in-process and final inspection using precision measuring tools
  • Troubleshoot machining, programming, and quality issues independently
  • Help train and mentor other machinists as Camtool builds out its Swiss capability
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities and implement process improvements
  • Accurately document work orders, inspection records, and maintenance logs

This is an all-around setup, run, and programming role — you’ll own the job from print to finished part.

---

Machines, Controls & Software

You’ll work with:

Machines:
Swiss CNC Lathes (any brand)

CAM Software:
PartMaker

Inspection Tools:
Micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment

---

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of Swiss CNC lathe experience (any brand)
  • 2+ years of Swiss CNC programming experience, PartMaker preferred
  • Able to independently program, set up, and run jobs start to finish
  • Strong blueprint reading skills
  • Ability to inspect parts and hold tight tolerances
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience training or mentoring other machinists
  • Fixture or workholding design experience

---

Materials You’ll Work With

Common production metals and raw materials used in Swiss machining
(Exact materials vary by job)

---

Why Machinists Like Working Here

Machinists choose Camtool because:

  • Real ownership of a Swiss job from programming through finished part, not just button-pushing
  • A chance to help build and shape a growing Swiss department
  • Stable workload with room to grow technically
  • Collaborative environment between machining, quality, and customers

---

Pay, Benefits & Schedule

$35–$45/hr, based on experience
Full-time, Monday-Thursday (4x10 Schedule)
401K, Vision, Dental, Life, Disability, Medical (reimbursement)
Clean, professional shop environment
