Job Title: CNC Swiss Machine Setup/Operator (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Job Summary

The CNC Swiss Machine Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up and operating Swiss-type CNC lathes to produce high-precision, small-diameter aerospace components. This role requires expertise in tight-tolerance machining, strong attention to detail, and adherence to aerospace quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC Swiss (sliding headstock) machines, including guide bushings, tooling, and bar feeders

  • Load programs, set tool offsets, and verify setups prior to production

  • Machine complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components from bar stock

  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and process documentation

  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment

  • Make adjustments to offsets, tooling, and machine parameters to maintain part quality

  • Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, chatter, and dimensional variation

  • Work with small-diameter parts requiring high precision and surface finish requirements

  • Document production and inspection results per quality system requirements

  • Maintain machine cleanliness and organization in compliance with 5S standards

  • Follow all safety, AS9100, and company procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 3+ years of experience with CNC Swiss machines (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or similar)

  • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T

  • Experience with Fanuc or comparable CNC controls

  • Knowledge of bar-fed machining and guide bushing setups

  • Experience machining aerospace materials such as titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, and aluminum

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an AS9100 or ISO-certified aerospace environment

  • Ability to edit and optimize G-code programs

  • Experience with multi-axis Swiss machines and live tooling

  • Familiarity with automated bar feeders and part catchers

  • Knowledge of first article inspection (FAI) processes
