Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Shop Helper/Maintenance Assistant for a long-term, day shift role in NW Portland, OR. The person in this position will support a job shop specializing in large and intricate industrial machines.
Pay: $20-$22/hour
Shop Helper/Maintenance Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain shop floors by removing metal shavings, oil, and other debris using brooms, rakes, and shovels.
  • Collect and properly dispose of scrap metal, trash, used rags, and other waste in designated containers.
  • Clean machinery and equipment. Remove metal shavings from machinery and wipe down equipment using proper solvents or cleaners.
  • Maintain walkways and work areas by ensuring aisles, exits and workstations are clear, organized and free from hazards.
  • Assist with machinery maintenance by replenishing lubricants and replacing filters as needed.

Shop Helper/Maintenance Assistant Qualifications:
  • Must have valid Oregon driver's license for local pick-ups/drop-offs of materials and products.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push or pull 50-75 lbs.
  • Must be able to remain on feet for extended shifts while walking, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes is preferred.
  • Experience working in machine shops or other manufacturing facilities is preferred.
