Clean Scapes is looking for exceptionally talented Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader. The opportunity is perfect for someone with the following responsibilities/skills:
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing the work of Crew Members and other maintenance workers. Maintenance Crew Leader prioritizes, assigns, coordinates, monitors and evaluates work. He/she provides hands-on assistance with resolving minor work problems and making recommendations to the Maintenance Account Manager or Supervisor regarding performance evaluations, discipline, training, job reassignments and laborer selection. This position reports to the Maintenance Account Manager who makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines based on customer expectations and assists the Crew Leader with unusual situations or problems which do not have clear precedents. The Crew Leader plans and carries out the work independently and is expected to resolve problems in accordance with instructions, policies and accepted practices.
ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Work in conjunction with the Account Managers and Property Managers to ensure service of maintenance is implemented efficiently and according to the contract specifications
โ€ข Provide on-the-job training of crew members, so they are able effectively and efficiently able to perform necessary tasks of all grounds maintenance services
โ€ข Assist in preparing/reviewing the days' schedule with the Maintenance Manager and prepare for the day
โ€ข Oversee jobsite and actively participate in duties such as: mowing, edging, weeding, blowing, removal of landscape debris, litter, shrub/bush pruning for quality of work performed
โ€ข Assess job site needs, identify potential issues and communicate findings with Account Manager
โ€ข Perform loading and unloading of power equipment, tools, materials and debris each day to/from vehicles
โ€ข Verify the appropriate levels of fuel, oil, and radiator coolant to landscape power equipment and vehicles each day. Secure necessary equipment for safe travel to and from sites
โ€ข Wash truck weekly or as indicated by management
โ€ข Oversee crew usage of proper safety equipment, ensure all crew members have the necessary safety materials and are operating safely at all times
โ€ข Report liability situations to appropriate departments in a timely manner
โ€ข Other duties as assigned
License :
Valid Driver License is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES :
  • The ability to work collaboratively with people very different from yourself with humility and authenticity
  • Knowledge of regional plant identification
  • Proper pruning techniques regarding shape, season and overall plant health
  • Ability to communicate with and resolve questions or concerns with customer property contact
  • Understand maps and property boundaries/locations
  • Solid reading and writing proficiency
  • To work long hours outside in heat
  • Familiarity with operation of smart phones and apps used
  • To solve maintenance issues occurring at properties and communicate them to Account Managers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (all required to be done for up to 10 hours or more a day):
While performing the essential duties of the job, this position requires the following physical abilities: brisk walking for extended distances and extensive lengths of time, heavy lifting, with pushing and pulling of up to 80 pounds. The ability to be on your feet to bend, twist and lift from the ground to waist level frequently through the day. Manual dexterity, wrist-finger movement and the use of landscape related tools that require digging, raking, and extreme physical movements.
Working conditions may also include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, dirty environments, air contamination, extreme temperatures in the triple digits during the summer and single digits during the winter, as well as exposure to other extreme weather conditions.
This position may be exposed to natural irritants in the environment that include poisonous plants, animals and insects, as well as intense noise, hazardous materials, or lifting or carrying heavy objects. The employee must be physically coherent and aware at all times especially when dealing with heavy machinery, equipment or while driving.
