We are a full-service mechanical contractor providing customers in the commercial, residential, and industrial sectors with innovative, energy-efficient heating and air conditioning services, automation and controls, industrial piping, new construction design and installation, and maintenance and replacement services.
Job Summary
Job Title: BIM Coordinator
Department: Commercial
Reports to: Pre-Construction Manager
Wage: Negotiated, commensurate with skills
General Purpose of Position
Provide dedicated BIM and detailing support for commercial HVAC projects. This role focuses heavily on multi-trade coordination, Revit modeling, and producing fabrication-level drawings for duct and mechanical piping systems to drive our shop and field operations efficiently.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • BIM Modeling & Detailing (Revit)
  • Detail and model mechanical systems using Autodesk Revit, specifically focusing on ductwork, mechanical water piping, and refrigerant piping (no plumbing).
  • Develop detailed models and shop drawings to LOD 400 standards for ductwork and water piping to support the fabrication shops.
  • Create accurate spool piece drawings for pipe fabrication, including cut lengths, material lists, and accessory dimensions.
  • Generate ductwork fabrication plans complete with dimensions, elevations, offsets, and transitions.
  • Multi-Trade Coordination (Navisworks)
  • Lead, assist, or participate in clash detection and coordination meetings utilizing Autodesk Navisworks.
  • Coordinate mechanical scopes with other trades (such as fire protection, plumbing, electrical, and structural) to resolve clashes and verify field installation feasibility.
  • Map out structural openings in steel and concrete for equipment, ducts, and chases, while tracking bottom of steel elevations and sloped roofing structures.
  • Field Support & Quality Control
  • Provide problem-resolution assistance and drawing interpretations to field personnel and project managers as needed.
  • Maintain organized logs of outstanding coordination issues, RFIs, and design changes.
  • Ensure all drawings are completed according to project schedules.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks (AutoCAD experience is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical HVAC systems, ductwork routing, and mechanical/refrigerant piping principles.
  • Experience detailing systems for prefabrication (LOD 400).
  • Excellent communication skills for running coordination meetings and collaborating effectively with field crews, project managers, and external trade contractors.
