Job description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Operator is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of all terminal equipment including, pumps, valves, engines, tank mixers, etc.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures service and reliability of equipment and facilities.
  • Assist in identifying and repairing any issues with operating equipment, including, but not limited to; pumps, valves, motors, tanks, pipes, terminal building, etc.
  • Maintenance of company vehicles (inspections, plates, minor repairs like battery, alternator, brakes, and fluid changes).
  • Diagnose loading rack issues; replace/repair seals and other equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for the creation, organization and retention of inspection and testing records.
  • Perform and accurately document quarterly rack meter proving.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of steam boilers, hot oil heaters, loading racks, product blenders and automation systems.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office experience and experience with terminal automation software - such as Toptech - is preferred.
  • Ability to work outside for long periods of time in any weather condition.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience/Education:
  • High school diploma / GED is required.
  • Trade or Vocational Program completion preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential Card (TWIC).

  • Ability to use up to 100 ft./lbs. of force to operate cycling valves.
  • Must be able to climb heights in excess of 60’, ascend stairs or ladders, work atop tanks, and traverse metal walkways at heights.
  • May work in confined or restricting work spaces (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels).
  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Normal coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot.
  • Normal endurance.
  • Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks.
  • Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
  • Normal complexity of decision making.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work requires physical efforts associated with using the computer and phones to access information.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, hand tools and small to medium-sized power tool use.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
