Description

The Operational Support Services Specialist position, under the direction of the Manager of Support Services, serves as a member of a team of correspondence colleagues responsible for triaging, sorting and distributing incoming/outgoing patient and insurance correspondence from all sources. Responsibilities include receiving documents via mail, email, fax, and bank lockbox transactions; scanning documents, separating and indexing electronic images for multiple healthcare facilities, and loading those images into multiple document imaging, workflow, and/or patient accounting systems. -Demonstrates an understanding of patient billing, collection, denial and financial assistance processes within the revenue cycle and triages and discerns the distribution of documents to departments to perform assigned duties. (10%) -Collects, organizes and scans patient and insurance correspondence, and other relevant documentation into document imaging systems, or similar applications. (50%) -Ensure mailroom and document imaging activities are performed promptly and in an accurate manner to assist in timely resolution of accounts and reduction in potential financial losses. (15%) -Sorts and date-stamps all incoming correspondence (fax, email, postal mail including checks), distributing correspondence to appropriate resources in a timely, accurate manner. Secures documents for electronic storage as required by HIPAA and CHS corporate policies. (15%) -Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager may include serving as a resource to train new hires, cross training in all functions of the Department, or other departments to serve as a resource as expected to assist in the smooth delivery of services. (10%) Required Experience: 1+ year clerical or mailroom experience or revenue cycle experience Preferred Experience: 2+ years clerical or mailroom experience in healthcare revenue cycle
