Job description

Position title : Mailroom Clerk Location : Arlington, Virginia Clearance required : SECRET Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): * Mail Reception & Screening: Receive all incoming mail and screen it in accordance with established security procedures, checking return addresses, postmarks, and addressees against official directories. * Mail Sorting & Distribution: Sort all screened mail by internal destination, separate misrouted mail for return to sender, and forward sorted mail to the appropriate clerks for final distribution. * Outgoing Mail Processing: Process all outgoing mail for pickup by designated carriers such as the United States Postal Service (USPS) or FedEx. * Accountable Mail Logging: Log all incoming and outgoing accountable mail (e.g., Certified, Registered, Express) into the designated Access database. * Safe Mail Handling: Open mail only when required and follow all established guidance for safe mail handling and emergency procedures. Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED Equivalent * One (1) year of functional experience in operating a centralized mail room; and * One (1) year of functional experience in operating an automated supply inventory management system.
