Inserter Operator

1st Shift: 6:00am-2:30pm, Pay = $19.00

2nd Shift: 2:00pm-10:30pm, Pay = 19.50

Position Summary:

Tends machine that inserts printed matter, such as letters or booklets for USPS MAIL into folders or envelopes:

Stacks quantities of inserts into machine pockets and turns setscrews to adjust feeder mechanisms, according to thickness of material.

Starts machine and replenishes pockets with inserts and booklets.

Performs periodic maintenance on machine related to mail inserting and assists Mechanics in identifying machine problems.


Overall Responsibilities:

Performs and verifies own machine setups prior to manufacturing

Maintains Integrity and organization of USPS presort mailings of First Class Letters/Flats;

Marketing Mail Letter/Flats for Permit Imprint and Metered mail. Controlling machine and processes

Monitor processes, materials, or surroundings

Maintains workflow and ensures availability of materials, tools, and necessary equipment for assembly

Inspecting equipment, structures or material

Monitors safety practices

Interacts with other departments in production to resolve problems that interfere with the groups productivity

Trains new and less experienced operators

Completes required daily maintenance paperwork

Maintains equipment in good working order and maintains clean work area

Reports machine and equipment malfunction to supervisor or mechanics

Reports replacement parts; assist in periodical equipment check to ensure maintenance of machine

Responsible for maintaining the quality and productivity

Adhere to the companys Quality Policy Statement and participate in the Quality Management System

Lifting up to 40lbs

Require to stand long periods


Job Requirements:

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Operation Monitoring and Control Precision

Understanding of general machine procedures and safety awareness

Maintenance, Inspection and Troubleshooting of equipment

General understating of USPS postal requirements for presort mail and documentation is preferred


Physical Demands & Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to walk.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, or crouch and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and up to 20 pounds with assistance
