What We Do
The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for handling the effective printing, packaging, labeling and mailing of documents with a high level of attention to detail. Provides a wide range of support within a team/group/function in a high volume, dynamic environment.
Essential Functions
  • Provide a wide range of support within a functional area
  • Sort and tray, tub or sack the mail for dispatch to the Postal Service
  • Place mail in proper buckets for distribution
  • Receive outgoing mail and apply correct postage
  • Arrange for pickup of outgoing mail or deliver to the Post Office
  • Stamp mail with postage meters
  • Fold letters, circulars, or other documents and insert into envelopes for distribution
  • Weigh mail to determine correct postage
  • Record registered mail
  • Stock copy rooms and printing devices
  • Use paper insert machines
  • Accept, calculate and apply postage for domestic mail, international mail and special mail services
  • Accept, process and dispatch the mail according to Mail Services and the Postal Services' guidelines, goals and deadlines

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of department/field
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs. (case of paper)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of printing and mailing automation
  • Establishes effective working relationships at the work group level

Typical Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Typical Range of Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience

Pay Range: $12.15 - $16.19 Hourly
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
