Job description

Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving mental health in our community through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct services.
The Courier is responsible for the timely and secure transportation of documents, materials, and individuals between Nassau County Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities Services (NCOMHCDDDS) and Nassau County mental health programs. In addition to courier responsibilities, the position utilizes personal lived experience and Peer Specialist training to provide support and encouragement to individuals in their recovery from mental health challenges. Courier duties may extend throughout the agency as needed, including the transportation of clients, paperwork, supplies, and other items to support agency-wide operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct documentation as required.
  • Complete training as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Responsible for the commuting of written materials, packages, booklets, etc. from agency to agency and department to department within the agency, some of which is of a confidential nature.
  • Communicates and organizes pick-ups from agency designees with regard to courier materials and duties.
  • Transports clients to and from appointments.
  • Flexibility to respond to the changes and additions to courier activities.
  • Reports on whereabouts to supervisor.
  • Stays in contact with supervisor throughout the day.

Requirements
Education : High School degree required. Bachelors Degree / Masters Degree preferred.
Experience
  • Clean NY State Driver's License required, Must be a safe driver
  • Lived experience with trauma and recovery preferred.
  • Prior mental health experience a plus.

Skills/ Ability
  • Clean NYS Driver's License, must have own transportation.
  • Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, Data entry. Must have home computer and internet access.
  • Must have own cell phone. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
