Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Automated Mail team! This will be a 90-day temporary trial position. At the end of your 90-day trial, you will potentially be offered a full-time opportunity. This position will include the following job duties:

  • Operate all functions of the automated mail machines. This includes both mechanical and computer systems.
  • Have a working knowledge of all of the automated mail jobs and their priorities.
  • Execute proper procedures for mailing with a high focus on quality.
  • Make minor adjustments to the equipment to correct general operational issues and interpret messages on the computers that operate automated mail machines.
  • Communicate with and assist service vendors regarding equipment problems. Make decisions regarding when service calls are necessary. Document equipment issues for departmental reference.
  • Train new Automated Mail Operators or assist Automated Mail Operators with less experience.
  • Order supplies necessary to complete assigned jobs.
  • Effectively communicate with other areas and departments affecting the work

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Mechanical and basic math aptitude. Ability to understand and carry out complex written or verbal requests. Ability to maintain a professional business image and work effectively with associates at all levels. Ability to work as a team and individually. Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently in a production environment. Need to be familiar with computers and have a mechanical aptitude.

EDUCATION: A high school education or equivalent job-related experience is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Experience on job-related equipment is preferred. Personal computer experience is also preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Those activities associated with mail operations, including, but not limited to frequently standing and walking for extended periods of time, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds, at times shoulder level, and maneuvering carts weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
