Job description

We are partnering with a research-driven global macro hedge fund that integrates deep fundamental macro thinking with systematic investment discipline. The strategy operates across major global macro asset classes โ€” equities, foreign exchange, rates, and commodities โ€” allocating capital dynamically where macro risk-reward is most compelling.

The team is deliberately small, intellectually rigorous, and highly collaborative. The platform combines the entrepreneurial pace and responsibility of a focused investment team with the backing and operational robustness of institutional infrastructure.

This is a high-exposure role suited to someone who wants to contribute meaningfully to idea generation, portfolio construction, and live risk decisions.

The Role

The Macro Research Analyst will work directly with the Chief Investment Officer and contribute across the full investment process. Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing macroeconomic nowcasts and regime analysis
  2. Building and refining systematic macro signals
  3. Conducting cross-asset research to express thematic views
  4. Supporting portfolio construction and risk management decisions
  5. Producing high-quality research materials for internal and external use

Research spans the complete lifecycle of an idea โ€” from macro hypothesis formation and empirical testing through implementation, monitoring, and refinement within live portfolios.

The investment philosophy is grounded in causal reasoning rather than narrative storytelling. Research must clearly articulate economic mechanisms, policy transmission channels, and regime dynamics. Assumptions are expected to be challenged, correlations stress-tested, and signals linked to defensible macro logic.

You will collaborate closely with other researchers across macro analysis, systematic modelling, and portfolio construction. Intellectual openness, constructive debate, and disciplined skepticism are core to the culture.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an intellectually independent macro thinker who is equally comfortable with economic theory and systematic implementation.

Required Experience

  1. 4โ€“7 years of relevant experience in macro research, systematic macro investing, or global markets
  2. Strong command of macroeconomic concepts, data, and policy dynamics
  3. Experience working with systematic strategies, particularly those incorporating fundamental or low-frequency macro data
  4. Ability to work autonomously and solve open-ended research problems
  5. Clear, concise written and verbal communication
  6. High integrity and intellectual honesty
  7. Genuine passion for financial markets

Location & Eligibility

  1. Role based in New York
  2. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States; existing visa status is strongly preferred
