Description of Work
The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) Business Centers are a cohesive team that provide professional service, efficient resource management, and effective solution development with integrity, accountability and focus on the customer. This position is located on UNL's East Campus.
As an HR/Payroll Coordinator, you will:
  • Be responsible for ensuring payroll related personnel actions are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Execute moderately complex payroll transactions and provides departmental human resource-related support in a subsidiary capacity.
  • Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Functions under general supervision and be expected to utilize technology to provide professional services.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED plus 3 years of related payroll and/or human resources work experience, OR
  • Associate degree in business or related field plus 1 year of related payroll and/or human resources work experience. Additional completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of payroll and/or human resources terminology and practices.

Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
  • Experience with SAP or large integrated finance or human resources system.
  • Experience with an HRIS, payroll processing, applicant tracking or similar system.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
