JOB SUMMARY:

The Machine Operator at RAM Machine Products, you must operate Multi-Spindle Screw Machines with adhering to product dimensions and tolerances specified in engineering drawings. You will also collaborate closely with other experienced operators to undertake machine setups, adjustments, and comprehensive product inspections. This collaborative team-oriented approach will be instrumental in achieving production goals and ensuring the highest standards of quality.



JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Set up, configure, and operate Acme or Wickman machines. Ensure proper loading of materials into machines and secure them effectively. Select and install the appropriate cutting tools based on job requirements and material types. Must be able to make minor repairs.
  • Monitor tool wear and replace tools as necessary to maintain optimal quality and efficiency during production. Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to verify the accuracy and quality of finished parts, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Identify and resolve machine malfunctions, tool wear, or deviations from specifications. Take appropriate action to address any issues promptly and minimize downtime.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve machining processes and optimize efficiency. Stay updated on advancements in manufacturing technology and machining techniques, integrating new knowledge into daily practices.
  • Provide guidance and training to new team members, fostering a collaborative and skilled team environment. Share knowledge and best practices to enhance the overall capabilities of the team.
  • Lead by example in adhering to safety protocols, promoting a secure and healthy work environment. Ensure that safety guidelines are followed by all team members, maintaining a focus on workplace safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine setting, tool changes, production data, and any issues encountered during production. Ensure all MES transactions are completed and recorded promptly and accurately.
  • Take full responsibility for ensuring all work meets the required specifications and produces high-quality results in accordance with the print and design provided.
  • Execute various tasks, as assigned by your manager, supervisor, or company officer, whether within your standard duties or as requested beyond regular responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School diploma or GED.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a Set-Up and Operation of a Multi-Spindle Screw Machine. Acme or Wickman preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to interpret drawings, use standard precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and check threads.
  • Basic understanding of metals and alloys.
  • Proficient in common arithmetic operations and geometry calculations.
  • Possess analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Must be effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Major or Minor Repairs of Multi-Spindle Screw Machine
  • Understanding of Cams, Gears, Center Height, Setup Reed Thread Roll Heads.
  • Ability to calculate Feed Rates and RPM and understanding of how those values affect setup.
  • Sharpen Tooling such as Cut off Blades.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50lbs, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull > 50 pounds
  • Continuous standing and/or walking.
  • Moderate physical effort - working frequently with weights of up to fifty pounds.
  • Ability to work in a hot, and/or dusty environment, with loud noisy conditions.
  • Must be able and willing to work required overtime, as necessary.
